10 Things to Do Once You're Engaged!!

Hey there! You might be here because you just got recently engaged. Well I want to be one of the first people to tell you, congrats!! I can’t wait to help you on this exciting journey with you and your fiancé(e). Weddings are so much fun and my absolute favorite thing to photograph. So as a photographer, let me guide you on what next steps you should be taking as a newly engaged bride or groom!

1. Tell your friends & family!

You just got engaged! Of course you have to tell the people closest to you. Not only will they be so excited for you but they can help with planning.

2. Get Your Ring Insured

This might not be the most romantic step, but it is important! Anything can happen and you would't want to lose your new ring.

3. Start thinking about a date!

Picking a date is a crucial step. This date will not only be an important anniversary for years to come, but it’s the date that allows you to pick and choose a venue and vendor team!

4. Find a Venue!

Searching for your venue can be a tedious but fun task! There are so many cool venues out there to choose from. Making sure the venue you want goes hand in hand with picking your wedding date.

5. Guest Count

Determining how big your wedding is going to be is crucial for planning. Some venues only hold 100 people and the more people you invite, the more people you have to feed. These are just a few items where your guest count matters.

6. Find your Budget

Discussing your wedding budget isn’t the most fun item on your to do list but it is very important. Going over budget can be really bad for your financial health but you want to make sure that you’re getting everything you want with great quality. Setting a budget helps limit your options so you don’t go overboard.

7. Create Your Website

A website? Yes! Creating your wedding website is a great way for your guests to be apart of your wedding date. With your website you can show guests the best hotels and lodging, directions, a registry and more. It’s a great and organized way to give your guests a walkthrough of your wedding.

8. Grab Inspiration

Grabbing inspiration from Pinterest or some wedding magazines can be a fun way to plan your wedding. Browsing through wedding boards is a great way to decide on colors, florals, themes, and more!

9. Who’s in the Party?

Picking who will be in your wedding party is so much fun and so important. From close friends to family members, finding your wedding party is crucial. Whether you want just a maid of honor or best man to a full wedding party of 20 people, picking those special humans is an important step of the wedding process.

10. Find Your Vendors

You might hear this a lot, but this is an important step! Finding your vendor team is what is going to make your dream wedding. From photographers, videographers, florists, planners, rentals, hair & makeup, and more, finding your perfect vendors is what is going to make your wedding perfect.
